I live in a province that doesn't get along with the federal government.
The province a few years ago declared today a holiday "Family day", whatever that means. (why I would want a holiday in the middle of February, the worst month of the year is beyond me...)
The federal government decided "I don't think so it ain't no holiday"...so federally regulated employees show up for work.
What does this mean? It means about 40% of the city is off work, while 60% of the city shows up to work.
The bonus is the bylaw officers are off. Since I work in the heart of downtown that's awesome. Parking anarchy day is proclaimed!

Wrong. What is "Ontario" although Quebec also doesn't get along, today is not a holiday in Quebec.

Nope, it's the opposite. Frankly I don't care that I have to work. If I didn't have to work, I'd just go grocery shopping and since it's a holiday everything is closed anyways, so I may as well work. I don't want to go outside, it's minus a bazillion out.

Wrong. February has two goofy holidays "free parking day" and Valentines day. It's also cold as hell, and by this time, we are sick as shit of winter. Too bad it will be snowing on and off until the end of April give or take.
